I've been using APC for my UPS needs for over 10 years. Each time I purchase a unit, it gets added features, while still retaining the trusted value. The service reps are also top notch, giving me solid advice. As we rely more on electronic devices, we require great UPC units.

Traded UP to purchase this product to replace an earlier APC model. The previous product finally failed after many years of service. I know I will get many more years of protection from this product. Easy to install, APC makes recycling old batteries/units a breeze. Love the digital display.

I just purchased the BX1500G [BACK-UPS XS1500VA] Not the PRO SERIES.
I have noticed several comments on the number of and configuration of the outlets.
SOLUTION: I use power strips to increase the number of outlets available and also for the problem of transformers.
I have SEVERAL low power drawing electronic items to run. I very rarely have more than 200 Watts on at one time. The power strips allow for MANY more than the UPS configuration (on ANY of my UPS's).
I have about 25 separate items connected, again, most are LOW POWER DRAWING, and NOT all on at the same time. (2 laptops, 2 printers, monitor, small LCD TV, 2 VCR's, 4 or 5 CFL/LED lights, DVD player, 2 computer sound systems for better sound for TV and computer. I might have missed a couple of items, but you get the point. I don't have to keep plugging and UNplugging the different items.
Like I said, I almost never have more than 200 watts running through the UPS at any one time!
The power strips also allow me to get several feet away from the UPS for hookups to equipment, without having extension cords all over the place.

1. Depends on the unit you have (capacity).2. Depends on the condition of the battery (new or old).
3. Depends on the amount of power draw at time of power loss.
Larger unit should have longer run time, depending on how much of the capacity you are using.
New battery, fully charged, will have longer run time than an old battery, fully charged.
Example: I had a 1500 VA unit with a battery that needed replacement. I would have ONLY UP TO 5 MINUTES OF RUN TIME!! My NEW 1500 VA unit gives me 60 minutes to 90 minutes run time!!
If you only have your computer running, it will have a longer run time than if you have the computer AND several peripherals running.
So, to answer your question as to how long a run time you have? IT DEPENDS, can not give you an actual run time.

The amount of runtime for the Back-UPS Pro 1500 depends on the amount of load or equipment that is plugged into the UPS. The higher the load the lower the runtime. For example, a 300 watt load will last about 75 minutes on battery while a 500 watt load will last about 40 minutes.2 years, 11 months ago

This unit does have a USB port that will connect the UPS to a computer.
This USB port is not the standard port you would find on your computer, it uses a cable that can pass data through the USB. The included cable connects on one end to the UPS using a data style port, but then on the other side uses a standard USB connection so you can plug it into almost any computer.

Yes, the back ups pro units have an automatic unattended graceful shutdown feature to shut down attached equipment in the event of a power failure. This feature can be customized in the software to start shutdown based on amount of runtime left on battery.2 years, 4 months ago

That depends on the exact model number.Our newest Back ups pro 1500 is a BR1500g, it's replacement battery is a APCRBC124. If its the BR1500LCD it will take an APCRBC109. Finally, if it is a BR1500 (oldest model) it will take a RBC33
